Amazon.com Product Description Your little worker can now drive a realistic big rig with the Kid Trax dump truck ride-on. Ideal for ages three and up, this yellow truck features high-performance wheels with rubber traction strips to prevent slippage and a two-speed transmission with parental control. The truck moves forward at 2.5 mph and 5.0 mph, and in reverse at 2.5 mph. A working megaphone and multiple sound effects, such as engine ignition, reverse beeping, and a dumping sound create a realistic truck-driving experience. Bright colors and graphics add to the fun. Not only is this dump truck loads of fun, it is safe and built to last. It features a long-lasting, 12-volt battery (which provides up to 10 hours of battery life between charges), twin rear-wheel drive motors, and durable wheels with a built-in traction strip to prevent slippage. Parents love that this electric ride-on is quick and easy to assemble. And two children may ride at one time, so long as their combined weight does not exceed 130 pounds. Just what my grandson wished for! April 14, 2008 Susan Storm (Milwaukie, OR USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this dump truck for my grandson's 5th birthday, due to his love of construction equipment! It is colorful and gives an audible backing up signal that he just loves. It is roomy enough to give his friends rides and was a big hit.
Under New Management September 19, 2007 R. M. Follmann (Madison, WI) 5 out of 12 found this review helpful
This is not a Safety 1st product! I work for the company that took over the Kid Trax ride on toys from Safety 1st. We completely updated the entire drive system on these units including the battery, battery connector, and circuit board. The old company Safety 1st had a lot of problems with the units, but now we have made them reliable and safe. The new Kid Trax Tonka truck has all of these quality improvements plus a dumping bed, sound effects, and working microphone speaker.
New Company, Great Product, Great Fun! September 19, 2007 Ryan (Madison, WI) 6 out of 15 found this review helpful
I am a representative of the company now in charge of KidTrax ride-on toys. Rest assured the reason we recently took over this business from Safety 1st was to ensure the product is fun, safe and reliable! We've made several upgrades to the internal compoentry to address any mechanical concerns.
The overall quality of this Tonka Truck is improved, and we also back it up with great customer service and support. With a dedicated toll-free line (877-741-6154) and service team, we strive to ensure that every child (and parent) is happy with their new dump truck. Please buy with confidence and have fun!
NEAT! But be careful. December 27, 2009 Shoshona O. Haskins I actually found this at a Marshalls store here in DFW, and couldn't pass up such a cool toy for the basement price they had for it. So I picked it up. At the time my nephew was too young for such a toy, so it was put in a climate controlled storage facility for at LEAST a year. We were concerned that the battery would have died in this time, so my dad and my brother-in-law brought it to the house to put it together and ensure that it worked. It held a charge with NO issue! However, maneuvering this beast down a flight of stairs was a task! Beware, it does NOT fit in doorways when fully assembled! You have to pick it up and turn it on its side to get it out a door. And it's a BEAST!
The box it was in had no details of what the product did, so I assumed it went forward and backwards. That's it. But oh, no! This thing sounds like an actual diesel truck when started up, beeps when in reverse, makes the sound of gravel being dumped when dumping the load, all kind of neat stuff! Now here is where I say be careful; it has 2 gears! Not kidding. 2 of them. The top speed of a Power Wheel is 2.5mph. The first gear on this truck does that. But second gear lets this baby go all the way up to 5mph!!!! A bit much for a 3 year old in our opinion!
However, with that said, there is a strategic hole for a screw to be placed into so that it essentially 'locks' the second gear from being used, and stays permanently in the first gear. So beware of that second gear!
On another 'COOL' note, the wheels are all independant of one another...differential is what my husband said it is. We had iced-over streets on Christmas day, but he still wanted to go drive it. What was impressive, is that when a single wheel would spin like crazy with no traction, the one wheel that had traction turned MUCH slower. It was really neat to watch.
Oh, and don't let the kids chase the family pet in this thing...it's heavy, fast, and can easily pull a 'Monster Truck' moment with any pet or smaller powered toy.
But man, it's COOL!
Great truck, bad shipping September 30, 2008 K.K. (NM) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The box looked like it had been shredded when it arrived. You could see inside the box, no side was sealed anymore, which was unacceptable. Strangely enough though, the truck wasn't damaged at all, only a couple of bolts were missing. I called the company and they overnighted the missing pieces to me. I was very impressed by the customer service I received. Haven't given the truck to my son yet, so no news on the actual item as of yet.
