5 out of 5 stars My 2 Year Old Loves It   April 13, 2006

I don't understand what the fascination is with this truck but my son (who is admittedly truck/car obsessed already) is in love with this toy. He can work the moving parts pretty well and thinks they are cool, especially the lights that turn off and on and the arm that raises up (we have the green truck), but mostly he likes to push it around the house and ride/sit on it. It is nice because it is the same color and shape as the real garbage trucks we see around town and it is big enough to be fun. So far it has withstood him standing on it, "riding" it, and knocking it off the table onto the carpet. It is by far one of his most favorite toys with or without batteries in it.

5 out of 5 stars Our 2 boys love this garbage truck!   July 24, 2006

Our boys are 2.5 and 4 years old and absolutely love these Tonka garbage trucks. This is our third garbage truck purchase within the last year and these have been the best. Our kids really love being able to load the dumpster up with "trash" and using the levers, they love to watch the truck dump the contents into the back of the truck. We bought these garbage trucks two months ago and they are still going strong. Just make sure to turn off the headlights when the kids go to sleep so the batteries don't run out. We have two other versions of the Tonka garbage truck and this one is the sturdiest so far.

4 out of 5 stars Trashtruck obsession?   December 29, 2005

This is the perfect toy for a little boy who is obsessed with the trashman/ trashcans/trashtrucks. There are 2 versions...the frontloader w/ dumpster and the sideloader with large roll out container. Both are cool, but we prefer the sideloader because the can tips over and the lid bangs just like the real thing. Beware of ordering through Amazon... you don't get to choose which version you receive...you have to just order and see what you get. Bad marketing...I tried to reorder the sideloader since the first one we received was broken, only to get a frontloader, which we already had. Both versions are very hard to come by...not sold in Toys R Us or Kaybee stores. I have found them at BJ's and Costco at Christmas time for $18. In any case, a fairly durable toy...realistic and fun.

4 out of 5 stars Captivating enjoyment   February 17, 2006

The sanitation truck, with its mutiple operations, repeatedly captivated one 3-year old's attention all through the month since he received it. His need for new pieces of trash to compact and process led him to destroy a book - but boys will be boys. The only negative feature discovered to date is if the cab doors are left open, and the motorized dumping arm is operated, the doors get mangled - but being of plastic they've spring back into place.
